There can be an ocean of endless songs to sift through in today’s music landscape, So here are just a few gems you may want to add to your playlist if you love R&B.
Ari Lennox – “High Key”
Ari Lennox just dropped her latest album in January titled Vacancy, with a video effort for “High Key.” The Grammy nominated artist has been consistent since her discovery with J.Cole’s Dreamville records, and this album only adds to her now lengthy list of accomplishments. The song’s title is a reference to Ari’s good lover, not her singing ability.
Bruno Mars – “Cha Cha Cha”
With the release of his fourth solo album The Romantic, Bruno Mars has pretty much guaranteed himself another set of trophies this award season. This album marks his first solo album since 2017’s 24K Magic. There isn’t a bad song on the project, or as my friend and owner of Rxownly, Rebe Espinosa said, “Love it. Obsessed. The little samples, base lines, R&B influences.”
The Amours – “The Greatest Love Song”
We found the next two artists through Daveymadeit series on TikTok ‘Music You’re Not Hyping Up Enough,” and we’re glad we did. The Amours debuted last year with their album Girls Will Be Girls. The sister duo fits together harmoniously and their voices have a soothing gospel influence that warmly welcoming.
Zae France – “Racks”
Zae Franks latest song “Racks” has an infectious cadence and delivery. The song is smooth and the production is light, supporting Franks voice, giving me shades of a young Mario mixed with Blxst.
Foggieraw – “Boyfriend In Yo Brain”
When Foggieraw came across my suggested plays on Tidal and at first I thought it was Devin the Dude. Foggie is a fun listen as the soulful crooning, the clever rhymes and the vibrato of his voice create a vibe. The artist from Ghana also has songs with Ari Lennox and Summer Walker.
